Dr Nick Carter - Founder and Owner of npc Solar and npc Imaging.
|
Dr Nick Carter, founder and owner of npc Solar, is also founder and owner of
npc Imaging. He was the organizer of the
2005 Santa Rosa Solar Homes Tour, President of the North Bay
Chapter of the Electric Auto Association from 2002 to 2007 and served on the
National Board of the Electric Auto Association
from 2004 to 2006. He has designed, consulted on and worked on numerous PV installations
around Sonoma and Marin Counties, as npc Solar and in conjunction with Affinity Energy,
North Bay Solar Electric, Harmony Farm Supply and Solar Depot. Some of these systems can
be seen on the Photo Gallery pages, including homeowner-installed systems where he
acted as consultant and the patio cover for the Rose residence which was featured on the
2007 Build It Green tour and scored in excess of 200 points on the BuildItGreen rating scale.
Dr Carter currently drives a
Solectria Force EV and has driven a freeway-capable electric
vehicle since December 2001. He campaigns tirelessly for renewable energy and clean
transportation, including being a part of the fight which stopped the Th!nk City electric
cars from being destroyed, as portrayed in the movie "Who Killed the Electric Car". After
international protests and much coverage in the media, the auto company responsible backed
down and sent those EVs back to Norway (where they were built), so that they can be owned
and driven by Norwegians rather than turned into aluminum cans and plastic picnic benches
in the USA.
Dr Carter has a PhD in Physics and Music from the University of Surrey
in the United Kingdom. His 1989 thesis, concerning automatic recognition
of printed music scores, can be seen on the npc Imaging website
here.
npc Imaging was founded by Dr Carter in 1998 to develop, publish and
resell software and electronic reference materials related to technology
applied to music notation. The company now has customers in 51 countries
around the globe and continues to earn great reviews for its products and service.
In founding npc Solar, Dr Carter aims to bring those same high standards
of customer service to the growing market for photovoltaic systems and
to help clean energy generation progress until it is considered mainstream
and polluting fossil-fuel sources are described as "alternative".
